Life Skills
Stepps' Group Therapy and one-to-one counselling are surrounded by the L.I.F.E. Skills programme, an eclectic experience of mental and physical wellbeing workshops which rapidly break down defence mechanisms in a non-threatening manner, helping to reveal hidden pain and destructive behavioural patterns.
L.I.F.E. Skills offered by Stepps include:
Empowerment - Learning to cope The technique of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is integrated into the Personalised Treatment Plan (PTP) to facilitate the process of the client learning to challenge the negative thought patterns and irrational thinking which have been deeply ingrained into the mindset.
Freedom - Skills for Life Through group discussions and role-play, Stepps can highlight an individual's key issues and provide solutions. Key skills include socialising, re-establishing relationships, building up confidence for job interviews and the ability to explain why you no longer drink or take drugs.
Independence - Relapse Prevention When a client is first admitted to Stepps we assess and identify what their potential relapse triggers are. Together with the client we devise the necessary therapies and workshops, providing the coping skills to address these triggers when they arise.
Letting Go - Working with horses Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is a powerful and effective therapeutic tool promoting change from dysfunctional patterns to successful ones. It is a collaborative effort between a therapist, horse professional, client and the horse.
