Family Support
Stepps has long recognised the impact and trauma that addictive behaviour can have on an individuals close family and friends. Often family members feel powerless to help, suffering great anxiety and heartache. They can be the forgotten victims in the downward cycle of a progressive condition.
Each Sunday families and partners are encouraged* to meet the key workers involved in the treatment of a loved one and join family group meetings where a Stepps counsellor will be present. It offers an opportunity for family members to explore their own feelings and experiences, and provide them with support as they try to come to terms with the impact of addictive behaviour.
In addition, Stepps Family Workshops are available throughout the year for loved ones seeking a greater understanding of the nature of the addiction. These workshops prove extremely valuable in helping to manage a loved ones journey to recovery whilst addressing the issues that impact on the lives of those closest to them.
