Auricular Acupuncture
Auricular Acupuncture is a powerful therapeutic technique used by Stepps to reduce clients' drug and alcohol cravings, instilling mental clarity, treating depression and stimulating the body to heal itself.
Auricular (or Ear) Acupuncture, first developed by the ancient Chinese, is a specialised complementary therapy where acupuncture points on the outer ear are treated, using either needles or electro acupunctoscopes. There are as many as two hundred acupuncture points on the outer ear, acting like a switchboard to the brain. Each acupoint, when treated, triggers electrical impulses from the ear, via the brain, to the specific area of the body that is being treated.
In addition to cravings relief, the treatment can be used to ease headaches, insomnia and anxiety amongst many other physical and mental complaints.
